What inspired you to start teaching WERQ?
When I welcomed my first daughter into the world, I knew I wanted to hold on to my identity as Sydney, not lose myself entirely to motherhood. Dancing had always been something I loved, but I never really had an outlet for it. My journey began with a simple goal: to find a hip hop dance fitness class that could support me through my postpartum recovery. At the time, Wichita didn’t offer anything that matched what I was looking for. After countless Google searches and a bit of serendipity, I discovered WERQ. Just a few months later, I took my first WERQ class and got certified as an instructor that very same day.
What certifications or specialties do you have?
AFAA Group Fitness Certification, WERQ dance, WERQ Like A Boss, NASM Nutrition Coach
What can people expect when they take your class?
People can expect an upbeat cardio dance fitness class based on hip hop and pop music. The choreography is repetitive with a mixture of dance and fitness moves. You'll be having so much fun class will be over before you know it! My goal for all my participants is to leave my class feeling confident and empowered in their bodies.
What brings you JOY?
I find joy in many small things like reading a great book, being creative, helping others, and staying active. But the two things that bring me absolute joy are my daughters and husband, and the freedom to be my fully authentic self.
